Durham vs Yorkshire report- White Rose inflict first defeat on Campbell's men

Spin prospered, especially in the chase, as only one batter from either side - Yorkshire’s James Wharton with a superb 64 off 41 balls - posted a half-century.

The White Rose totalled 151 for nine, which proved insurmountable as they consigned Durham to a first defeat in three, this by 58 runs, and replaced them at the top of the North Group. 

Durham, for whom David Bedingham made a pleasing 41 after Matthew Potts and Kasey Aldridge had struck three times each, subsided to 93 all out inside 17 overs as Hassan Ali and spinners Moeen Ali and Dom Bess all struck twice.

After the defeat, head coach Ryan Campbell said: “Very disappointing. At the halfway point, I thought we’d bowled extremely well. 

"A couple of their batters batted nicely. They almost put their innings on hold until they got in and picked up some boundaries towards the end. I thought James Wharton was fantastic.

“But 150, I thought was par, and I was 100 percent thinking that we would chase that. I don’t think anyone saw what came coming.

“Credit to Yorkshire, I thought they bowled beautifully, their spinners in particular. 

“They were bloody hard to get away, and they walk away with the four points. We walk away licking our wounds and needing to bounce back.”
