Since Ben Stokes' international retirement two weeks ago, there's been plenty of speculation about what the former England captain will do next and all roads appear to be leading to Metro Bank fever.
The plan always was for him to appear in the One Day Cup due to him opting to skip The Hundred, but it appears that he will now be a more regular feature of the competition for Durham.
It's doubtful that the all-rounder will play in each game, but given his pedigree, even one or two appearances could alter the path of Durham's 50-over fortunes.
He hasn't played a 50-over game since he reversed his ODI retirement in the 2023 World Cup. However, you could argue its his best format, as it allows a player to move through the gears and that is something he excels in, his batting average of 41.22 and an all-time England record ODI score of 182 demonstrates that.
