What happens now as Durham come to terms with relegation?

Back in Division Two in 2026, what do Durham need to do as they target an immediate return to the top tier?

The post-mortem begins, where do Durham start in picking apart what turned out to be a bitterly disappointing season.

It wasn't all bad, I recall saying this in my match report after matchweek six: "The win sees Durham move up to fourth in Division One and are just 16 points behind their opponents at the top of a congested table."

Following that win against Nottinghamshire, Durham's County Championship record read, no wins, four defeats and four draws, picking up just 64 points from their remaining eight matches, an average of eight points per match.

There are all the what ifs and maybes, if Durham had managed to get 400 in their first innings, they would've stayed up by a point and if we go back to April and that one-wicket defeat to Warwickshire, that stings even more now.
