On the whole Durham’s draw against Kent was an impressive performance, but it did end with a whimper.

Like many times recently, Durham struggled to bowl a team out on the final day.

The Riverside pitch flattened out under the sun on Easter Monday allowing Kent to adopt a rearguard action.

Perhaps it was a defensive declaration, maybe Alex Lees and co were haunted by the spectres of declarations past, Warwickshire is the one that springs to mind.
