It's the hope that kills, but the worst thing of all is that Durham were never the source of the hope, that came from Surrey's Rahul Chahar.

On Saturday morning, just before 11am, Hampshire lost to Surrey to put them on the brink of playing in Division Two next season, but Durham brought the 'hold my beer' meme into the cricketing world.

Just needing to bat out two sessions for a draw and Division One survival, Durham went down easier than a wobbly jenga tower on Saturday afternoon, 85 all out is a shambolic total on the whole, but these stats put things into even more perspective.

Durham went from 25 without loss to 85 all out, effectively losing all wickets for 60 runs and they lost their last six wickets for 11 runs. Yes, I'll say that again for those who are sat reading this in disbelief, 11 runs.
