For Sam Conners, it has been a frustrating year after making the move from Derbyshire in the winter.
The right-arm fast bowler decided a change of scene was needed for his career, but the injuries that plagued the latter stages of his time in Derby have followed him to the North East.
He played just five times in the County Championship for the Division Two side in 2024, taking just seven wickets at an average of 75.7 and it has very much been a repeat of that this season, as he's played just three times in the longest format and it is something which the 26-year-old is frustrated about.
"It's been frustrating, I worked so hard over the winter as well with Graham Onions and the team here. I was in great shape coming into the season.
