Durham are one of modern day cricket’s greatest success stories, but there’s one piece of the puzzle missing, the T20 Blast trophy.

Three County Championships and two 50-over trophies have been claimed since the county gained First Class status in 1992, but their history in this format has been far from rosy.

Prior to this game, their quarter-final record read two wins and five defeats, including a 55-run defeat at Hampshire in 2011, the only previous clash between the two in this format.

The challenge was clear, to banish the spectres of the past, but they were unable to do that as they fell at the hands of T20 specialists Hampshire.
