After a pair at Trent Bridge and a duck in the second innings against Warwickshire, had you offered Emilio Gay 954 runs during the 2025 season, he'd have snapped your hand off.
But Durham's number three isn't one to dwell on numbers. "The most important thing is scoring hundreds that put the side in positions to win games," he said.
In an effort to better last season's tally of four hundreds, Gay spent the winter touring Australia with the England Lions, working closely with former South African Neil McKenzie to broaden his game against conditions far removed from the green April wickets at Chester-le-Street.
