The bowling stocks were bare at times last year, so Durham moved to secure the services of highly rated Archie Bailey.
It was disappointing to see homegrown talents Mitch Killeen and Paul Coughlin depart Durham last summer, but the exciting Bailey and the arrival of Aldridge makes up for that.
He has made his Durham debut already in last season’s Metro Bank One Day Cup, but judgements made by some over the signing are a bit hasty given we’re yet to see him with a red ball in hand.
