Familiar tropes return as Durham suffer double defeat in the One-Day Cup

After a promising start to their campaign, Durham's hopes of qualifying for the knockouts took a blow on home turf.

This season has been like a raffle, some days you pick out an excellent team performance, sometimes there's a brilliant individual effort pulled out the hat and other times you get a bad day at the office.

It feels like we've had all of these during the Metro Bank One Day Cup, but the latter two are what we saw during a duo of home games last week.

Durham broke the record for their highest home List A total against Middlesex after some remarkable batting by Alex Lees and David Bedingham, but Middlesex led by Sam Robson chased the runs down with ease, making it the highest successful List A chase in England.

The Northamptonshire game was one of those you'd describe as an all-round bad day at the office, a crushing defeat by 150 runs and there were several bad performances across the XI.
