With international experience coming by the bucket-load, Kemar Roach's signing is a 'statement of intent'.

Short-term overseas signings can sometimes feel like a risk, but Durham’s move for Barbados-born Kemar Roach for the first half of the County Championship season looks one that could bring immediate rewards to the North East outfit and provide a major boost to their promotion push.

Roach is a cricketer many will recognise as much for his achievements in county cricket as for his long and distinguished West Indies career.

Still playing Test cricket at the age of 37, the right-arm seamer arrives at Durham with an outstanding red-ball résumé.

As well as taking 294 Test wickets, Roach has built one of the strongest first-class records in the game, claiming 580 scalps at an average of 26.3.
